What I'm wondering here, is that during the months it takes to produce a small map pack, would it be possible to introduce a transitory gametype called HoB Demolition. We would use stock S&D maps, and it would require code to allow (1: respawning at the start spawns (2: both objectives to be destroyed for attacker victory (this would make teamwork important, eventhough it only takes one player to plant the explosives). With these two changes, we would have a great new game until the real one is finished.
The reason why? I've heard too many players say, "I'd like that game but for the random spawns." This could be a quick fix for that. Of course it only works if the coders can do it, (there was a mod gametype for CoD1 called reinforced S&D where you respawned, but that was then) and can do it without taking too much of their time from the main mod.
I think HoB Demolition would be really fun - more fun than the defend-only maps in old HoB, and it would attract the kind of player who will then want to transition to full-blown HoB Cap & Hold.
I know this sounds strange, but give it some thought, BB1 and Upholder. There was a Day of Defeat gametype like this, and it was really popular. I know it's not what we want, but domination flags and random spawns aren't it either.
